Genocide in Rwanda and subsequent community reconciliation by Gacaca courts

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá genocidou ve Rwandě a následným smiřováním společnosti pomocí soudů gacaca. Práce se zaměřuje na historické okolnosti vzniku konfliktu mezi etniky Hutu a Tutsi. Autor se pokusí vysvětlit co to jsou soudy gacaca. Dále práce čtenáře uvede do problematiky efektivnosti soudů a posoudí jejich úspěšnost. Pro vypracování práce byl použit kvalitativní výzkum a jedná se o případovou studii. Práce je rozdělena do pěti částí. V první části je úvodní seznámení čtenáře s problematikou, následované metodologií práce spojené s cílem a výzkumnými otázkami. Třetí část obsahuje podrobné informace o situaci před genocidou a během ní. Čtvrtá část se zaobírá odpověďmi na výzkumné otázky. Následuje závěr práce, který shrnuje, zda bylo odpovězeno na výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the genocide in Rwanda and the subsequent reconciliation of the company through the gacaca courts. The thesis focuses on the historical circumstances of the conflict between Hutu and Tutsi. The author tries to explain what the gacaca courts are. In addition, text will address the effectiveness of the courts and assess their success.. Qualitative research was used for the work, and it is a case study. The work is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the reader to the problem, followed by the methodology of work connected with the goal and research questions. The third part contains detailed information on the situation before and during the genocide. The fourth part deals with answers to research questions. The following is a conclusion of the paper summarizing whether the research questions have been answered.
