Update of Climate Regions Classification within the System of Estimated pedologic-ecological units

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá problematikou aktualizace klimatických regionů v systému bonitované půdně ekologické jednotky. Důvody vedoucí k potřebě aktualizace klimatického regionu jsou různé, např. změny klimatických charakteristik v souvislosti se změnou klimatu, prostorové rozšíření systémů měřících meteorologické prvky, nové možnosti výpočetní techniky a rozvoj klimatických modelů. První část práce se věnuje současnému stavu řešené problematiky a představuje základní východiska práce. Dále následuje praktická část, ve které jsou podrobně analyzovány a specifikovány hlavní příčiny nepoužitelnosti stávající metodiky vymezování klimatických regionů a jsou představeny možnosti její aktualizace. Stěžejním výsledkem disertační práce je návrh klimatické rajonizace pro účely bonitace půdy. Na základě analýzy potenciální vláhové bilance ve vegetačním období bylo vymezeno 10 nových klimatických regionů. Klimatické regiony jsou označeny číselným kódem od 0 do 9. Dále jsou specifikovány doplňkové klimatické charakteristiky zahrnuté do aktualizovaného metodického postupu. Kromě vláhové bilance ve vegetačním období je zohledněna i průměrná roční teplota, teplotní suma nad 10 °C, roční úhrn srážek a průměrná roční absolutní minimální teplota. Aktualizovaná metodika zohledňuje i odhad budoucího vývoje klimatu na základě výstupů aktuálních emisních scénářů a klimatických modelů.

Abstract:

The PhD thesis deals with the issue of updating the classification of climate regions within the system of Estimated pedologic-ecological units. The reasons behind the necessity to update the climate regions are various; for example, changes in climate characteristics as a result of the ongoing climate change, spatial distribution of weather measuring systems, new computational possibilities and the development of climate models. First part of the thesis talks about the current state of the issue and forms the basic foundation of the work. Next follows the practical part, in which the main reasons for the necessity to change the currently unusable methodology of categorization of climate regions are analyzed and specified in detail and which also presents possible ways of updating it. The main outcome of the thesis is the actual design of climate classification for the purposes of soil evaluation. Based on an analysis of potential water balance during vegetation period, 10 new climate regions were devised, which were assigned a numerical code from 0 to 9. Next follows a specification of additional climate characteristics included in the newly developed methodology. Apart from water balance during vegetation period, the parameters also taken into account are annual average temperature, temperature sum above 10°C, annual precipitation and average annual absolute minimum temperature. The updated methodology also takes into consideration future trends in climate based on the current emission scenarios and outputs of climate models.
