Mental hygiene in the manager´s life

Abstract:

Vzhledem velkému počtu vnějších podnětů, povinností a zároveň limitujících podmínek je psychohygiena stále aktuálnějším tématem, které je zapotřebí dostat více do podvědomí lidí. Je tomu tak zejména v případě manažerské praxe, která je specifická svou vysokou náročností. Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem duševní hygieny ve světě managementu a jejím cílem je za pomoci vlastního kvalitativního výzkumu zjistit, jaké konkrétní principy duševní hygieny uplatňují čeští manažeři v praxi. Teoretická část představuje literární rešerši a nabízí bližší informace k pochopení problematiky duševní hygieny, specifik manažerské práce a obtížných životních situací spjaté s pozicí manažera. Hlavní praktická část přináší poznatky získané pozorováním, sestavením časových snímků a polostrukturovanými rozhovory s celkem osmi respondenty. Výsledky výzkumu poskytly zajímavý pohled do reálného života manažerů a poukázali na individualitu v oblasti duševní hygieny, kdy každý má unikátní potřeby. Zásadní vliv na duševní hygienu mají také zkušenosti a věk, kdy u profesně starších osob je mnohem více důležité, aby principy psychohygieny v praxi využívali.

Abstract:

Due to the large number of external stimuli, duties and limiting conditions at the same time, psychohygiene is an increasingly relevant topic nowadays and it is needed to brought in more into people's subconscious. This is especially the case in managerial practice, which is specific for its high demands. The diploma thesis deals with the topic of mental hygiene in the world of management and its aim is based on qualitative research to find out what specific principles of mental hygiene are applied by managers in practice. The theoretical part presents a literature search and offers more information to better understanding the issues of mental hygiene, the specifics of managerial work and difficult life situations associated with the position of manager. The main practical part brings the knowledge gained by observation, compiling time frames and semi-structured interviews with a total of eight respondents. The results of the research provided an interesting insight into the real life of managers and pointed out the individuality in the field of mental hygiene, because everyone has unique needs. Experience and age, when it is much more important for older people professionally, to use the principles of psychohygiene in practice, also have a fundamental influence on mental hygiene.
