Health literacy of older adults in relation to Covid-19 (scoping review)

Abstract:

Starší dospělí představují jednu z nejzranitelnějších skupin vůči pandemii COVID-19, a to nejen kvůli vyššímu riziku komplikací spojených s věkem a zdravotním stavem, ale také kvůli nedostatečné zdravotní gramotnosti. Tato práce analyzuje dostupné studie zaměřené na zdravotní gramotnost seniorů v kontextu pandemie COVID-19 a identifikuje klíčové faktory, které ji ovlivňují. Práce se zaměřuje na úroveň informovanosti seniorů o COVID-19, jejich přístup k ověřeným zdrojům informací a schopnost tyto informace využít při preventivním chování a péči o vlastní zdraví. Z výsledků vyplývá několik klíčových faktorů, které významně ovlivňují zdravotní gramotnost seniorů.

Abstract:

Older adults represent one of the most vulnerable groups to the COVID-19 pandemic, not only because of a higher risk of age- and health-related complications, but also because of a lack of health literacy. This work analyzes the available studies focusing on the health literacy of the elderly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and identifies the key factors influencing it. The thesis focuses on the level of awareness of seniors about COVID-19, their access to verified sources of information and the ability to use this information in preventive behavior and care for their own health. The results reveal several key factors that significantly influence the health literacy of seniors.
