Pojem „Mafie“ patří k Las Vegas stejně, jako patří Benjamin „Bugsy“ Siegel ke kasinu Flamingo. Cílem této práce je shrnout historické události a činy nechvalně známých osob v Las Vegas mezi příjezdem Anthony Cornera do Las Vegas a skutky Howarda Hughese. Práce poskytuje informace o historickém prostředí města, jeho lidech a událostech odehrávajících se v těch nejtemnějších dnech, které Las Vegas zažilo. Práce slouží jako skvělý přehled o organizovaném zločinu Las Vegas mezi 30. a 60. lety 20. století.

Abstract:

The term "Mafia" belongs to Las Vegas the same as Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel belongs to The Fabulous Flamingo. The aim of the thesis is to summarize the historical events and infamous characters of Las Vegas between the arrival of Anthony Cornero to Las Vegas and the actions caused in the city by Howard Hughes. The thesis provides knowledge of the historical environment of the city, its people, and events happening during the darkest days the city had experienced. The thesis serves as a great overview of organized crime in Las Vegas between the 1930s and 1960s.
