Fair trade cocoa products in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá konceptem Fair trade a jejím cílem je zjistit vnímání fairtradových kakaových výrobků českými spotřebiteli. První kapitola má za cíl vymezit rozdíly mezi fairtradovými výrobky a těmi, které toto označení nenesou. Zabývá se proto základními principy Fair trade, důvody, proč by se pěstitelé a obchodníci mohli chtít připojit k tomuto způsobu obchodování, historií a dvěma významnými Fair trade organizacemi. Dále je pozornost věnována plodinám, které lze pod tímto konceptem zakoupit, a také Fairtrade v České republice. Druhá kapitola má za cíl objevit původ rozdílů, které byly zjištěny v předchozí kapitole, na příkladu konkrétní plodiny, a to kakaa. Popisuje pěstování kakaa, zpracování a konečnou cestu ke spotřebiteli, prezentuje standardy od Fairtrade International a na závěr se věnuje světovému trhu s kakaem. Poslední kapitola popisuje provedené dotazníkové šetření a jeho výsledky, které mělo za cíl zjistit vnímání fairtradových kakaových výrobků spotřebiteli v České republice.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the concept of Fair trade and its aim is to find out how the Czech consumers perceive Fair trade cocoa products. The first chapter defines the differences between Fair trade products and those without this certification. The chapter deals with the principles, reasons for farmers and traders to join Fair trade, history and two important Fair trade organizations. A part of this chapter is dedicated to products that are traded under this certification and the state of Fairtrade in the Czech Republic. The second chapter identifies the origin of differences stated in the previous chapter in case of cocoa. The chapter describes the process of growing, processing cocoa and its final way to the end consumer. Standards by Fairtrade International are presented and the rest of the chapter concentrates on the world cocoa market. The last chapter describes the questionnaire that was carried out and its results. The goal was to find out the perception of Fair trade cocoa products by consumers in the Czech Republic.
