Interior Installation - Its beginnings in Czech art

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je ozřejmit problematiku počátku média instalace uzavřeného prostoru v českém umění v období mezi lety 1965 a 1975. Studie, rozdělená do tří hlavních kapitol, nejdříve přesně vymezuje kategorii instalace jako nový umělecký druh tvorby a zkoumá její počátky, postavení v zahraniční výtvarné produkci i aktuální teoretické proudy jejího výzkumu. Druhá kapitola se pak věnuje již ryze české výtvarné scéně. Zohledňuje místní podmínky, vazby na zahraničí a vztah výtvarníků, důležitých seskupení autorů a předních teoretiků k tomuto rodícímu se médiu umění, jež integruje veškerý okolní prostor. Třetí, poslední část, shrnuje stěžejní příklady jednotlivých raných interiérových instalací v českém prostředí a přístupy autorů, kteří v naší zemi přispěli k rozvoji mladého média. Záměr práce především spočívá ve snaze doplnit mezeru moderního dějepisu umění, které doposud umělecké poloze instalace vnitřního prostoru nevěnoval dostatečnou pozornost. V obecném zájmu by studie měla přispět k náhledu na české umění tohoto období z jiného úhlu, totiž z pohledu, který zdůrazňuje taktéž efemérní prostorotvorné dílo významných autorů.

Abstract:

The aim of the diploma dissertation is to elucidate the issue of beginnings of interior Installation art in Czech art in the period of 1965 and 1975. The study is divided into three main chapters. First of all exactly delimitates the category of intstallation as a new artistic method of creation and examines its beginnings, the position in foreign creative production as well as current theoretical streams of its examination. The second chapter focuses on purely Czech creative scene. It takes into account local conditions, links to foreign countries and relationships between Czech artists, important groups of artists and front theoreticians and to this aborning issue of art, which integrates the entire circumambient space. The third and the last part, resumes fundamental examples of separate early interior installations in the Czech environment and attitudes of artists, who contributed to the development of this young issue in our country. The intention of the diploma dissertation especially lies in the effort to fill in the gap of the modern history of art, which has not paid sufficient attention to the artistic position of the interior Installation art. In general interest the study should contribute to the opinion on Czech art of this period from another angle that is from the view which emphasizes also ephemeral space-creative piece of art of notable authors.
