Waste management in the prison system with focus on Jiřice prison

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou produkce, využitím a odstraňováním odpadů ve vězeňské službě ČR se zaměřením na věznici Jiřice. Teoretická část je věnována platné legislativě České republiky, technologiím zneškodňování odpadů a konceptu odpadového hospodaření ve vězeňství. V praktické části je přehled produkovaných odpadů věznice spolu s popisem dalšího nakládání s ním. Tato část obsahuje také analýzu vývoje produkce odpadů ve věznici za období pěti let 2013-2017 a vlastní provedené návrhy na změny v oblasti odpadového hospodaření. Podrobně se práce zabývá navrhnutým projektem kompostování zeleně z údržby pozemků věznice, které nebyly dříve využity. V projektu bylo vhodně spojeno využití BRO environmentálním vzděláváním, výchovou a osvětou odsouzených osob. V závěru práce je posouzena účinnost všech navrhovaných změn a EVVO.

Abstract:

This thesis describes the analysis of waste production, usage and removal in the Prison Service of the Czech Republic with a special focus on the Jiřice prison facility. The theoretical part is dedicated to the current legislation of the Czech Republic, waste treatment technologies and the concept of waste management in a penitentiary. In the practical part there is a summary of produced waste at the prison described together with the ways of the following treatment. This part also contains an analysis of the waste production progress between the years 2013 and 2017 and the suggestions for changes in the waste management. This thesis also deals in detail with a proposed composting of grass and plants from the maintenance of the previously unused prison's land. In this project there was a biologically degradable waste usage appropriately integrated with the environmental education and training for the convicts. In the last part of the thesis the effectiveness of all proposed changes and the environmental education is evaluated.
