The Revivals to Romantism, Symbolism and Art Nouveau by the Brno Photographic Group Epos

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské diplomové práce je zhodnotit vliv moderních uměleckých směrů malířství a literatury na tvorbu brněnské fotografické skupiny Epos. Pro účely práce byl vybrán romantismus, symbolismus a secese. První část práce se zabývá založením a tvorbou skupiny. Další část se zabývá vlivy konkrétních děl vybraných směrů na fotografickou tvorbu. Věnuje se i fotografiím, které jsou inspirovány v obecném duchu těmito směry. Svoji kapitolu má téma o návratech symbolismu a secese v 60. letech 20. století. Na závěr je připojen rozhovor s Ladislavem Plchem, který zavzpomínal na své působení ve skupině, na inspirační vlivy a okolnosti vytvoření některých fotografií.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the influence of modern artistic movements of painting and literature on the creation of the Brno's photographic group called „Epos“. For this purposes romanticism, symbolism and art nouveau were selected. The first part of the thesis deals with the establishment and creations of the „Epos“ group. Another part deals with influences of specific works of selected movements on photographic creations. It is also focused on photos that are inspired in a general way by these directions. The return of symbolism and art nouveau in the 1960s is the main topic of a separate chapter. Finally, an interview with Ladislav Plch is added. He remembered his work in the group, the inspirational influences and circumstances of creating some photographs.
