The capital structure of companies of the selected industry in the Czech republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce bude zaměřena na zkoumání kapitálové struktury firem v odvětví stavebnictví. Předmětem zkoumání budou konkrétní faktory ovlivňující složení kapitálové struktury firem ve vybraném odvětví za využití základních metod statistické analýzy. V praktické části bude představen aktuální vývoj, chování a trendy stavebních podniků v ČR. Dále se práce věnuje základním determinantům kapitálové struktury. Prostřednictvím těchto determinantů bude ověřena platnost zvolené teorie hierarchických potřeb na kapitálovou strukturu podniků ve stavebnictví. Práce bude dále zaměřena na porovnání způsobu financování dle velikosti firem. Data byla čerpána z databáze hodnot finančních výkazů Albertina. Budou stanoveny determinanty a ty zkoumány korelační a následně regresní analýzou v programu Statistica. Z výzkumu byl vyvozen závěr, že lze nalézt dílčí prvky, které jsou v souladu s touto teorií, ale také prvky, které ji nepodporují. Celkově lze konstatovat, že firmy preferují využití cizích zdrojů, a konkrétní kapitálová struktura společnosti je ovlivněna individuálním rozhodováním manažerů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis will focus on the capital structure of companies in the construction industry. The subject of research will be specific factors influencing the composition of the capital structure of companies in a selected industry, using basic methods of statistical analysis. In the practical part there will be presented the current development, behavior and trends of construction companies in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the diploma thesis deals with the basic determinants of capital structure. Through these determinants, the validity of the chosen Pecking Order Theory on the capital structure of companies in the construction sector will be verified. The diploma thesis will be further focused on a comparison of the methods of financing according to the size of companies. The data extracted from the Albertina financial statements database. Determinants will be determined and examined by correlation and subsequently regression analysis in the Statistica program. The research concluded that partial elements can be found that are in line with this theory, but also elements that do not support it. Overall, it can be stated that companies prefer the use of external resources and the specific capital structure of the company is influenced by individual decisions of managers.
