Family Relations and Their Changes in Contemporary China

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá rodinnými vztahy v současné Číně a jejich proměnami. Práce je rozdělena do tří bloků. V prvním bloku je popisován konfuciánský model čínské rodiny a její charakteristické rysy. V druhém bloku se zaměřuje na vývoj rodinných vztahů ve 20. století a objasňuje vliv vzniku republiky a komunistické strany na rodinné vazby. Třetí blok práce tvoří terénní výzkum, který vychází především z rozhovorů s rozdílnými respondenty. Jedním z hlavních cílů bylo přiblížit, jakým způsobem se změnily vztahy v čínských rodinách od tradiční konfuciánského modelu až po moderní dobu s důrazem na vysvětlení, jak zásahy státu pomohly proměnit tradiční rodinu v moderní. Tato část práce vychází především z kompilace dostupné literatury, která charakterizuje rodinu z historického pohledu. Druhým cílem je pak detailní vyobrazení jednotlivých vztahů v moderní čínské rodině na základě rozhovorů, které byly vedeny s respondenty rozdílného věku, pohlaví a postavení. Výsledkem této bakalářské práce je hlubší proniknutí do čínských mezilidských vztahů, jejich charakteristika v jednotlivých obdobích a vytyčení hlavních změn, ke kterým došlo kvůli změnám ve státě. Práce dále umožňuje detailní náhled do života Číňanů v moderní době.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with family relations in contemporary China and their changes. The work is divided into three blocks, the first describes the Confucian model of the Chinese family and its characteristic features. In the second, it focuses on the development of family relations in the 20th century and explains the influence of the Republic and the Communist Party on family ties. The third part consists of field research, which is based mainly on interviews with different respondents. One of the main goals was to get closer to how Chinese family relations changed, from the traditional Confucian model to the modern times, with an emphasis on explaining how state interventions helped to turn the traditional family into a modern one. This part of the thesis is based mainly on the compilation of available literature, which characterizes the family from a historical perspective. The second goal is to give a detailed picture of individual relationships in the modern Chinese family based on interviews conducted with respondents of different age, gender and position. The result of this bachelor thesis is a deeper penetration into Chinese interpersonal relationships, their characteristics in individual periods and outlining the major changes that have occurred due to changes in the state. The work gives a detailed insight into the lives of Chinese people in modern times.
