The attitudes of the generation of young adults towards marriage

Abstract:

Málokterý společenský fenomén je v současné době spojován s tak rozporuplnými názory jako instituce manželství. Kvantitativní studie přináší porovnání postojů generace mladých dospělých k tradičnímu pojetí manželství, hodnotě manželství a vnímaném vlivu manželství/rozvodu na jedincovo společenské postavení z hlediska demografických údajů. Konkrétně z hlediska pohlaví, věku, vzdělání, zaměstnanosti, finanční závislosti na rodičích, vzdělání rodičů, typu obce v dětství a dospívání, (ne)úplnosti rodiny, věku při rozpadu rodiny, vydařenosti manželství rodičů, sexuální orientace, rodinného stavu, délky vztahu a náboženského vzdělání. Postoje byly zjišťovány pomocí jednorázového dotazníkového šetření. Data byla zpracována pomocí faktorové analýzy, série Kruskal-Wallisových testů a jednofaktoriálních ANOV. Výsledky ukazují, že mladá generace se v postojích k manželství liší zejména z hlediska (ne)úplnosti rodiny, míry vydařenosti manželství rodičů a náboženského vyznání.

Abstract:

Only a few social phenomena are currently associated with such conflicting views as the institution of marriage. Quantitative study compares the attitudes of young adults towards traditional view on marriage, value of marriage and perceived influence of marriage or / divorce on an individual's social status in terms of demographic data. Specifically in terms of gender, age, education, employment, financial dependence on parents, parents ‘education, (incompleteness) of the family, age at family breakdown, success of parents' marriage, sexual orientation, marital status, length of relationship and religious beliefs. Attitudes were surveyed using a one-off questionnaire survey. Data were processed using factor analyzes, a series of Kruskal-Wallis tests, and one-way ANOVAs. The results show that the young generation differs in their attitudes towards marriage mainly in terms of the (incompleteness) of the family, the degree of success of the parents' marriage and religious beliefs.
