Digital processing of anisotropic structure of mapped territory and its visualization in a GIS environment

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje aplikování známých metod přejatých ze strukturní geologie do programu ArcGIS, kde pomocí metody „tří bodů“, metody „down-plunge“ a dalších zjišťuje orientaci a polohu rovinných a geometrii zvrásněných struktur, které následně protíná s modelem reliéfu a geologickým řezem. Navržená metodika byla použita pro vytvoření dvou nových doplňků pro ArcGIS s názvem GeoSol (pro morfotektonickou analýzu) a OATools (pro orientační analýzu). Tyto nástroje vyhodnocují morfotektonické tvary patrné v digitálním modelu reliéfu, provádí orientační analýzu a tvoří geologické řezy. Tím spojují výhody GIS a metody strukturní analýzy při konstrukci geologické mapy. Využívají DMR, kompasová data a poznatky povrchového geologického mapování, mohou být využita i vrtná data. Pomocí nových nástrojů v ArcGIS byly řešeny geologické otázky, se kterými se potýká geolog-mapér při tvorbě geologických map. Byla provedena řada analýz při řešení reálných geologických úkolů. Nástroje mohou být využity pracovníky České geologické služby během mapování k provádění strukturních analýz, ale také studenty geologie při řešení geologické stavby mapovaného území.

Abstract:

This work is devoted to the application of well-known methods taken from structural geology to the ArcGIS program, where, using the "three-point" method, the "down-plunge" projection and others, it determines the orientation and position of flat surfaces and the geometry of folded surfaces, which it then intersects with DEM and geological cross-sections. The proposed methodology was used to build two add-ins for ArcGIS called GeoSol (for morphotectonic analysis) and OATools (for orientation analysis). These tools evaluate the morphotectonic shapes visible in the digital elevation model, perform orientation analysis and create geological cross-sections. Thereby combining the benefits of GIS and structural analysis methods in the construction of a geological map. They use DEM, compass data and insights from surface geological mapping. Drilling data can also be used. With the help of new tools in ArcGIS, the geological questions faced by the geologist-mapper when creating geological maps, were solved. A number of analyzes were carried out while solving real geological tasks. The tools can be used by employees of the Czech Geological Survey during mapping to perform structural analyses, but also by students of geology when solving the geological structure of the mapped area.
