Simplex Method: Systems of Linear Equations Solved in an Iteration Step

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je podat ucelený pohled na jednu z nejpoužívanějších metod řešení úloh lineárního programování - simplexovou metodu. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola seznamuje čtenáře se základy lineárního programování. V druhé kapitole je podán ucelený popis simplexové metody, a to od základních pojmů, přes primární i duální algoritmus, až po konečnost této metody a zobecnění pojmu báze u primární a duální simplexové metody. Třetí a čtvrtá kapitola se zabývají metodami řešení soustav lineárních rovnic v iteračním kroku pomocí metody LU rozkladu a použití Shermanovy-Morrisonovy formule.

Abstract:

The main aim of this master thesis is to give a comprehensive view for one of the most used method of solving linear programming problems - the simplex method. This thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the basics of linear programming. The second chapter gives a complete description of the simplex method, from basic concepts, through primal and dual simplex method to the finiteness of this method and generalization of concept the basis of the primal and dual simplex method. The third and fourth chapters deal with methods of solving systems of linear equations in an iteration step using the LU decomposition and Sherman-Morrison formula.
