The decline of brown coal mining and its impact on the socio-economic aspects of the Ústí nad Labem Region in comparison with the Free State of Saxony

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá srovnáním průběhu těžebního a posttěžebního rozvoje Ústeckého kraje a Svobodného státu Sasko se zaměřením na analýzu socioekonomických ukazatelů v posttěžebním období. Cílem práce bylo porovnat dopady útlumu těžby v těchto regionech a prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření analyzovat názory respondentů na související témata. Teoretická část obsahuje literární rešerši vycházející z české i zahraniční odborné literatury, zaměřenou na dílčí témata a ukazatele v obou regionech. V praktické části bylo vyhodnoceno dotazníkové šetření zaměřené na klíčové okruhy: pracovní situaci a zaměstnanost, vnímání dopadů útlumu těžby, možnosti podpory a rozvoje regionu a srovnání vývoje se sousedním regionem. V závěrečné části jsou popsány výrazné rozdíly ve výsledcích šetření mezi regiony. Tyto rozdíly se týkají zejména očekávání ohledně pracovních příležitostí, vnímání dopadů útlumu těžby, podpory rozvoje regionů a povědomí respondentů o průběhu útlumu těžby uhlí v sousedním regionu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the mining and post-mining development of the Ústí nad Labem Region and the Free State of Saxony with a focus on the analysis of socio-economic indicators in the post-mining period. The aim of the thesis was to compare the effects of the mining decline in these regions and to analyse the respondents' opinions on related topics through a questionnaire survey. The theoretical part includes a literature search based on Czech and foreign literature, focusing on subtopics and indicators in both regions. In the practical part, the questionnaire survey was evaluated, focusing on the following key areas: the labour situation and employment, perception of the impact of mining decline, possibilities of support and development of the region and comparison of the development with the neighbouring region. The final part describes the significant differences in the survey results between the regions. These differences relate mainly to expectations regarding employment opportunities, perceptions of the impacts of the mining phase-out, support for regional development and respondents' awareness of the coal phase-out process in the neighbouring region.
