The effect of pesticides on plant communities

Abstract:

ABSTRAKT V této rešeršní práci jsem se zabývala vlivem pesticidů na suchozemská, mokřadní a vodní společenstva, přičemž jsem vyhledávala zejména terénní experimenty a mikrokosmy. Dále jsem se zaměřila na vývoj a znaky rostlinných taxonů a na způsoby a účinnost zadržování pesticidů pomocí nárazníkových pásem. Pro vyhledávání informací jsem využila databáze Web of Science, Researchgate a Google Scholar. Ve své práci uvádím informace ze 151 publikací. Pesticidy ovlivňují biodiverzitu a složení společenstev ať už přímo (herbicidy) nebo nepřímo (fungicidy, insekticidy). Fungicidy snižují množství mykorhizních hub, které svou symbiózou podporují růst některých rostlinných druhů (především čeleď Fabaceae a druhy fixující N2). Herbicidy a insekticidy v konečném důsledku snižují množství semen a tím ohrožují biodiverzitu rostlinných druhů. Herbicidy jsou z těchto tří pesticidů jediný typ, který měl v citovaných pracích přímý vliv na úhyn rostlin. Pesticidy negativně ovlivňují rostliny snížením množství květů, deformací pylových zrn a snížením klíčivosti semen. Rovněž působí morfologické abnormality na listech nebo brzdí růst kořenů. Na ochranu biotopů před pesticidy lze využít nárazníková pásma. Trávníková a lesní nárazníková pásma společně s kořenovými čistírnami mají vysokou účinnost při odstraňování pesticidů. Vhodná šířka trávníkových pásem je okolo 10 m. U lesních nárazníkových pásem se šířka odvíjí od hydrologie v daném místě, avšak nejpoužívanější šířka je 30 m.

Abstract:

In this research paper, I investigated the effects of pesticides on terrestrial, wetland and aquatic communities, searching mainly through field experiments and microcosms. I also focused on the development and traits of plant species and the methods and effectiveness of pesticide retention by buffer zones. I used the Web of Science, Researchgate and Google Scholar databases to search for information. In my thesis, I include information from 151 publications. Pesticides affect biodiversity and community composition, either directly (herbicides) or indirectly (fungicides, insecticides). Fungicides reduce the abundance of mycorrhizal fungi, which by their symbiosis support the growth of some plant species (mainly Fabaceae and N2-fixing species). Herbicides and insecticides eventually reduce the abundance of seeds and thus threaten the biodiversity of plant species. Herbicides are the only type of these three pesticides that had a direct effect on plant mortality in the cited studies. Pesticides negatively affect plants by reducing the number of flowers, deforming pollen grains, reducing seed germination. They also cause morphological abnormalities in leaves or inhibit root growth. Buffer zones can be used to protect habitats from pesticides. Grassland and forest buffer zones together with constructed wetlands are highly effective in removing pesticides. Of the three mentioned, grassland buffer zones are the most effective buffer zones. The appropriate width of these strips is about 10 m. In forest buffer strips the width of the strip depends on the hydrology of the site, but the most commonly used width is 30 m.
