Development of communication skill of a boy with multiple handicap

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá rozvojem komunikační schopnosti chlapce s kombinovaným postižením. Práce je rozdělená do tří kapitol, z čehož první dvě jsou věnovány teoretické části a poslední část výzkumnému šetření. První kapitola shrnuje nejprve problematiku kombinovaného postižení, jeho vymezení, klasifikaci a etiologii. Dále obsahuje vymezení a charakteristiky vybraných aspektů kombinovaného postižení, a to mozkové obrny, zrakového postižení a mentálního postižení. Druhá kapitola vymezuje termín alternativní a augmentativní komunikace, klasifikuje jeho metody a popisuje výběr vhodné metody. Závěr kapitoly patří specifikům AAK u osob s kombinovaným postižením. Výzkumná část se zabývá analýzou komunikační schopnosti chlapce s kombinovaným postižením. Při výzkumném šetření byla zpracována případová studie a analyzovány možnosti podpory komunikační schopnosti na podkladě odborné dokumentace, konzultace s rodiči a logopedem a participačního pozorování žáka. Následně byly stanoveny metody a připraveny pomůcky pro podporu komunikačních schopností. V poslední části výzkumného šetření byly stanovené metody při přímé práce s chlapcem aplikovány a zhodnoceny.

Abstract:

This Thesis deals with developing communication skills of a boy with multiple handicap. The Thesis is divided into three chapters, the first two being theoretical and the third describing the conducted research. The first chapter summarizes the issues of multiple handicap, defines and classify it and discusses its etiology. The definition and description of selected aspects of multiple handicap ensue, namely of cerebral palsy, visual impairment and intellectual disability. The second chapter defines alternative and augmentative communication, enumerates its methods and describes the selection of a suitable one. At the end of this chapter, the specifics of AAK in relation to individuals with multiple handicap are dealt with. The research part analyzes communication skills of a boy with multiple handicap. Within the research, a case study was carried out together with an analysis of possibilities of communication skill development based on technical documentation, consultations with the boy’s parents and speech therapist, and participatory observation of the pupil. Subsequently, the suitable methods and aids for developing communication skills were selected. The last part of the research consisted of applying and evaluating the methods in direct work with the boy.
