NT2 versus NVT: far from each other? Contrastive research on differences and correspondences between Dutch as a Second Language and Dutch as a Foreign Language based on examples of the Dutch Studies for foreigners in Leiden and in Brno

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rozdíly mezi výukou nizozemštiny jako druhého jazyka (tj. jazyka, kterému se člověk učí v zemi, kde je tento jazyk jazykem mateřským) a výukou nizozemštiny jako cizího jazyka. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny pojmy Nizozemština jako druhý jazyk (NT2) a Nizozemština jako cizí jazyk (NVT) a pozornost je zde soustředěna na některé dílčí aspekty, které při hledání rozdílů mezi těmito pojmy hrají roli. Následují dvě praktické části. V první jsou popsány a srovnávány konkrétní výukové situace: výuka nizozemštiny pro cizince na univerzitě v Leidenu v Nizozemí a výuka nizozemštiny na Masarykově univerzitě v Brně. Druhá praktická část zpracovává výsledky ankety, které se zúčastnili studenti prvních ročníků nizozemštiny v Brně a Leidenu. Anketa zkoumala, jaké možnosti kontaktu s nizozemským jazykem mají studenti mimo výuku na univerzitě.

Abstract:

This masters thesis deals with the differences between education of Dutch as a Second Language (i. e. the language that one learns in the country where Dutch is the mother tongue) and education of Dutch as a Foreign Language. The initial theoretical part focuses on the definition of the concepts NT2 and NVT. Two practical parts follow. The first one is a description and comparision of concrete education situations: teaching of the Dutch language for foreigners at the University in Leiden in the Netherlands and at the University in Brno in the Czech Republic. The second practical part presents results of a questionnaire of first year Dutch language students in Leiden and Brno. The intention of the questionnaire was to research which possibilities for contact with the Dutch language were available to the students outside of the university.
