Analysis of Chinese investments in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Analýza čínských investic v České republice“ je zaměřit se na čínské investice, které přicházejí do České republiky a na základě přímých rozhovorů s představiteli klíčových institucí, které mají tuto oblast na starost, rozebrat a popsat procesy, které probíhají v rámci schvalování investic. Primární pozornost bude věnována bezpečnostním aspektům. První část bude věnována teoretickému ukotvení a diskuzi o situaci v Evropě a v České republice včetně zmapování čínských investic. Ve druhé části se pak objeví diskuze získaných primárních dat z vybraných institucí a zhodnocen celkový přístup, jak je k přílivu čínských investic přistupováno a zda jsou v úvahu brány veškeré možné pohledy, či nikoliv. Důraz bude zejména kladen na "soft" rovinu PZI, a to politický a bezpečnostní rámec investic. 3. část textu se pak zaměří na aktuální debatu o screeningu zahraničních investic v České republice a situaci v okolních státech.

Abstract:

The aim of the diploma thesis „Analysis of Chinese Investments in the Czech Republic“ is to focus on incoming Chinese investments in the Czech Republic and to discuss and describe the processes that take place in the approval process based on personal interviews with representatives of key institutions in charge of this area. Primary attention will be paid to security aspects. The first part will be devoted to theoretical anchoring and discussion about the situation in Europe and the Czech Republic, including the mapping of Chinese investments. In the second part there will be a discussion of the primary data obtained from selected institutions and the overall approach how the inflow of Chinese investments is treated and whether all possible views are taken into account. In particular, the focus will be on the "soft" level of FDI, namely the political and security framework. The third part of the text will focus on the current debate on foreign investment screening in the Czech Republic and the situation in neighboring countries.
