Staging of Lady of the Dawn, by Alejandro Casona, in Czech theaters

Abstract:

Spanish literature has had many excellent, world-famous authors for several centuries. Among them, Spanish playwrights also have an irreplaceable place. Their plays are repeatedly performed in theatres around the world and many are referred to as classics. Most visitors to Czech theatres know names such as Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca and Federico García Lorca. However, only a true theatrical enthusiast knows the name Casona and his play the Lady of the Dawn. The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to find out how the Czech creative teams of individual productions of the Lady of the Dawn worked with the poetic-real line of this play, and what the reasons for its introduction to the Czech stage against the background of political and social changes in Czechoslovakia, later the Czech Republic were. With my work I would like to contribute to the approach of Cason's work, the uniqueness of his poetic-realistic genre, the importance of its presentation in any socio-political environment and generally greater interest in Alejandro Cason and the staging of his Lady of the Dawn in the Czech Republic.

Abstract:

Španělská literatura disponuje mnoha vynikajícími světoznámými autory již po několik staletí. Mezi nimi mají své nezastupitelné místo i španělští dramatici. Jejich hry se opakovaně hrají v divadlech po celém světě a o mnohých se mluví jako o klasicích. Většina návštěvníků českých divadel zná jména jako Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca či Federico García Lorca. Jen opravdový divadelník však zná jméno Casona a jeho divadelní hru Jitřní paní. Cílem mé bakalářské práce je zjistit, jak české tvůrčí týmy jednotlivých inscenací Jitřní paní pracovaly s poeticko-reálnou linkou této hry, a jaké byly důvody pro její uvedení na česká jeviště na pozadí politických a sociálních změn v Československé, později České republice. Svou prací bych chtěla přispět k přiblížení Casonova díla, jedinečnosti jeho poeticko-realistického žánru, významu jeho uvádění v jakémkoliv sociálně-politickém prostředí a všeobecně většímu zájmu o Alejandra Casonu a inscenování jeho Jitřní paní v České republice.
