Friedrich Adler: translator of songs for Hudební Matice Umělecké besedy in Prag

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá právníkem, básníkem, překladatelem Friedrichem Adlerem. Friedrich Adler byl ve své době ceněn zejména jako výtečný překladatel českých básní, které proslavil za hranicemi. Méně známá, ale zajímavá je Adlerova překladatelské činnost pro významné hudební nakladatelství Hudební Matice, kde přeložil velké množství písňových textů do němčiny. Tyto písně byly vydány tiskem dvojjazyčně. Práce popisuje také důvod a smysl pořizování těchto překladů písní. Na vybraných písňových textech je ukázáno, jak Adler pracuje s textem a do jaké míry překlad ovlivňuje hudební stránku písně.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis deals with Friedrich Adler as layer, poet and translator. Friedrich Adler was famous as great translater of czechs poetry, which he famed in world. Less famous but interesting is Adler’s translating activity for important music publishing house called „Hudebni Matice“, where Adler translated many songs‘ texts into german. These songs were published as bilingual. The thesis describes also the reason and sense of making translates of these songs. On choosen songs‘ texts is shown, how Adler works with text and how a translation influences the music part of a song.
