The thesis focuses on conceptual metaphor UNDERSTANDING IS SEEING as introduced by Lakoff and Johnson (1980). The aim is to analyze and account for this conceptual metaphor. In the course of the thesis, background information on metaphorical language, on Lakoff and Johnson's approach and on cognitive linguistics is provided.
