Perception of discrimination of women on the labor market

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problémem genderové diskriminace na trhu práce, konkrétně v okrese Mělník. Hlavním cílem bylo zjistit, jestli se ženy cítí být na pracovišti diskriminované, a zdali to má dopad na jejich pracovní popřípadě i rodinný život. Dílčím cílem pak bylo porovnání četností výskytu této diskriminace na úrovni soukromé a státní sféry a určení, která skupina žen dle segmentačních kritérií genderovou diskriminaci pociťuje nejvíce. Potřebná data byla sbírána pomocí dotazníkového šetření v elektronické, eventuálně papírové formě, které bylo prováděno ve vybraných firmách soukromého a veřejného sektoru. Dotazování probíhalo pomocí stratifikovaného náhodného výběru, kde zkoumanou skupinou byly zaměstnané ženy. Porovnání rozdílů mezi vnímáním diskriminace v soukromé a státní sféře a pracovní spokojeností v těchto sektorech bylo vyhodnocováno pomocí dvouvýběrového t-testu. Interval spolehlivosti pomohl zhodnotit sílu dopadu pocitu diskriminace na pracovní a osobní život. Dále korelační analýzou byl vyhodnocován vliv vnímání rovnosti na trhu práce na spokojenost zaměstnankyň. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že většina respondentek genderovou diskriminaci na trhu práce vnímá jako existující problém, zároveň čtvrtina má s touto formou diskriminace osobní zkušenosti. Současně bylo prokázáno, že pocit diskriminace má dopad nejen na pracovní spokojenost a produktivitu v práci, ale i na náladu jedince a osobní život. Domněnka, že ženy v soukromém sektoru pociťují genderovou diskriminaci více, byla také potvrzena.

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis deals with the problem of gender discrimination in the labor market, specifically in the district of Mělník. The main aim was to find out whether women feel discriminated against in the workplace, and whether it has an impact on their work or family life. A partial aim was to compare the frequencies of this discrimination at the level of the private and public spheres and to determine which group of women feel gender discrimination according to the segmentation criteria. The necessary data were collected by means of a questionnaire survey in electronic, possibly paper form, which was carried out in selected companies in the private and public sector. The survey was conducted using stratified random sampling, where the examined group consisted of employed women. A comparison of the differences between the perception of discrimination in the private and public spheres and job satisfaction in these sectors was evaluated using a two-sample test. A confidence interval helped to assess the strength of the impact of discrimination on work and personal life. Furthermore, the correlation analysis evaluated the influence of the perception of equality on the labor market on the satisfaction of employees. The results showed that most respondents perceive gender discrimination in the labor market as an existing problem, while a quarter have personal experience with this form of discrimination. At the same time, it has been shown that the feeling of discrimination has an impact not only on job satisfaction and productivity at work, but also on an individual's mood and personal life. The presumption that women in the private sector feel more discriminated against has also been confirmed.
