Ekologická interakce mezi poloparazitickým černýšem rolním (Melampyrum arvense) a invazním turanem ročním (Erigeron annuus)

Ecological interaction between hemiparasitic Melampyrum arvense and invasive Erigeron annuus

Abstract:

Turan roční (Erigeron annuus; Asteraceae) je druh pocházející ze Severní Ameriky, který se v Evropě invazně šíří do polopřirozených trávníků a poloruderálních bylinných porostů. Rostlinné invaze představují riziko pro biodiverzitu, protože invazní druhy získávají zvláště v narušovaných prostředích konkurenční výhodu nad druhy původními a vytlačují je. Pro jejich kontrolu lze mj. využít (polo)parazitických bylin, které se mohou pomocí haustorií navazovat na cévní soustavu hostitele, odebírat z ní vodu a živiny a tím oslabovat jeho růst a reprodukční schopnosti. V této práci se věnuji interakci mezi turanem ročním a černýšem rolním (Melampyrum arvense; Orobanchaceae), naším domácím poloparazitickým druhem. Na trvalých preparátech bylo pozorováno funkční napojení xylémových svazků černýše na cévní svazky turanu. Preparáty byly vytvořeny ze vzorků haustorií získaných společným pěstováním obou druhů v květináčích. V areálu univerzitního kampusu v Bohunicích byl založen experiment sloužící k ověření vlivu černýše na dominanci turanu v travním porostu. Bylo založeno 7 pokusných bloků, které se skládaly vždy ze dvou párových ploch. Jedna z nich byla oseta černýšem a druhá představovala kontrolní plochu. Na plochách bylo monitorováno složení vegetace, přičemž na podzim 2021 byly plochy opět osety. Získaná data o procentuální pokryvnosti turanu byla vložena do lineárního modelu se smíšenými efekty, na který byla aplikována dvoucestná analýza rozptylu. Byla testována průkaznost interakce výsev × čas. Při porovnání října 2020 a června nebo července 2021 se neprokázalo, že změna pokryvnosti turanu v čase je ovlivněna výsevem černýše (červen: p = 0.9629, červenec: p = 0.5586). Při porovnání znovu osetých ploch v dubnu 2022 s říjnem 2020 p-hodnota pro interakci výsevu a času poklesla na 0,093. Při analýze společného výskytu černýše rolního a turanu ročního ve fytocenologických snímcích z databáze European Vegetation Archive se ukázalo, že v rámci Evropy se oba druhy společně vyskytují ve 14 biotopech, z nichž jsou nejvíce zastoupeny louky středních a nižších poloh a vytrvalé polosuché trávníky na vápenci. Pomocí Sørensenova indexu, jehož průkaznost byla testována permutačním testem, se také ukázalo, že se oba druhy společně vyskytují ve více fytocenologických snímcích, než by odpovídalo náhodě.

Abstract:

Erigeron annuus (Asteraceae) is an invasive species from North America spreading into seminatural grasslands and ruderal vegetation across Europe. Plant invasions are posing a threat to biodiversity. Especially in disturbed habitats, invasive species gain advantage over native species and supress them. One of the methods of controlling plant invasions is by using hemiparasitic plants. Hemiparasitic plants negatively affect growth and reproduction of their hosts by drawing water and nutrients from their vascular system to which they attach through structures called haustoria. In this thesis I study the interaction between E. annuus and Melampyrum arvense (Orobanchaceae), a hemiparastic species native to Europe. Functional attachment of M. arvense xylem vessels to the vessels of E. annuus was observed on thin sections. The sections were prepared using samples of haustoria from the roots of M. arvense and E. annuus grown together in pots. An experiment was set up at the university campus in Brno with the goal of observing influence of M. arvense on the dominance of E. annuus in a grassland community. Seven experimental blocks were established, each of which consisted of two paired plots. One of the plots was sown with seeds of M. arvense while the other was used as control. The vegetation composition of the plots was monitored. In autumn 2021 the plots were sown again. Data describing E. annuus coverage were analysed using linear mixed effects model. Two-way ANOVA was applied and the significance of the treatment × month interaction was tested. When October 2020 and June or July 2021 were compared, there was no significant influence of sowing M. arvense on the change in E. annuus coverage (June: p = 0.9629, July: p = 0.5586). However, when comparing October 2020 and April 2022, the p-value was as low as 0,093. An analysis of co-occurrence of M. arvense and E. annuus in vegetation plots from the European Vegetation Archive database showed that in Europe, the species share 14 habitats. The most represented were low and medium altitude hay meadows and semi-dry perennial calcareous grasslands. A calculation of the Sørensen index showed that the species occur together in more vegetation plots than what would correspond to chance.
