Implementation of sustainable mobility principles in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Hlavním zaměřením práce je aktuální téma plánů udržitelné mobility. V teoretické části pojednává práce o širším kontextu tohoto plánů udržitelné mobility. Dává vhled do managementu měst, vysvětluje pojem udržitelný rozvoj, charakterizuje postavení, jenž zaujímá v politikách současných moderních států, a v neposlední řadě mapuje současné trendy udržitelného rozvoje. V teoretické části také práce podává stručný nástin historie dopravy, vysvětluje základní pojmy z této oblasti a snaží se vystihnout rozdíl mezi dopravou a mobilitou. Hlavním cílem praktické části je komparace plánů udržitelné mobility v České republice a v Evropě. Pro potřeby práce byla vybrána tři česká města – Praha, Brno a Olomouc, jejichž plány udržitelné mobility byly analyzovány a bylo provedeno srovnání s plány udržitelné mobility evropských měst. Evropská města (Budapešť, Vídeň, Lyon a Bilbao) byla vybrána tak, aby se nacházela v odlišných evropských zemích, čímž mohlo být komparováno více přístupů, zároveň ale s ohledem na podobnost geografickou, demografickou, industriální apod. Výsledným zhodnocením práce došla k závěru, že plány udržitelné mobility evropských a českých měst jsou do značné míry srovnatelné, přesto bylo poukázáno na některé dílčí příklady dobré praxe, které by české plány udržitelné mobility mohly po vzoru evropských příkladů obsahovat.

Abstract:

The main focus of the thesis is the topic, which is actual nowadays, the sustainable urban mobility plans. The theoretical part deals with the broader context of the topic. The theoretical part gives the insight into the urban management, explains the concept of the sustainable developement and characterizes the position, which the sustainable development occupies in policies of many modern states, and last but not least it maps the actual trends in the sustainable development. In this part of the thesis, it also gives a brief outline of the history of transport, explains the basic concepts in this area and tries to describe the difference between the transport and the mobility. The main goal of the practical part is to compare the sustainable urban mobility plans in the Czech Republic and in Europe. Three Czech towns were selected for the aim of the thesis: Prague, Brno and Olomouc, whose sustainable urban mobility plans are analyzed and compared to the European sustainable urban mobility plans. The European cities and towns (Budapest, Vienna, Lyon and Bilbao) are chosen, because they are located in different European countries, and therefore the work can compare multiple approaches, but also with regard to georgaophical, demographic and industrial similarity. The final evaluation of the thesis concludes that the sustainable urban mobility plans of European and Czech cities/towns are largely comparable. But the thesis points out that there are some partial examples of a good practice in the European sustainable urban mobility plans, which can be very inspirational for the Czech sustainable urban mobility plans.
