Integration of Ukrainain Students Into the Czech Public School System

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je zmapovat a definovat, jakou roli sehrává v procesu integrace ukrajinských dětí do majoritní české společnosti veřejný školní systém. Tento výzkum reaguje na aktuální dění týkající se pomoci válečným utečencům, kteří byli donuceni opustit své domovy v důsledku vypuknutí válečného konfliktu mezi Ruskou federací a Ukrajinskou republikou. Primární terén pro tento smíšený výzkum bude představoval systém základních škol na Pardubicku. Další skupinu respondentů budou představovat rodiče žáků, kteří tyto školy navštěvují, dále pak také zaměstnanci a klienti neziskové organizace Kalyna. V práci budou využity koncepty antropologie migrace, veřejné politiky měst a neziskových organizací. Cílem výzkumu bude především analyzovat proces začleňování ukrajinských žáků a zkoumat případné bariéry, výzvy a potenciály, které tuto integraci ovlivňují pomocí dat získaných z dotazníku a polostrukturovaných rozhovorů.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map and define the role of the public school system in the process of integration of Ukrainian children into the majority Czech society. This research responds to the current developments concerning the assistance to war refugees who were forced to leave their homes as a result of the outbreak of the war between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine. The primary field for this mixed-method research will be the primary school system in Pardubice region. Another group of respondents will be parents of pupils attending these schools, as well as employees and clients of the non-profit organization Kalyna. The thesis will use the concepts of anthropology of migration, urban public policy, and non-profit making organizations. The main aim of the research will be to analyze the process of integration of Ukrainian pupils and to explore barriers, challenges and potentials that affect this integration using data collected from a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews.
