Abstract:

Abstrakt Následující práce uvádějící Aristotelovy názory na pohyb a gravitaci je dodatkem k původní disertační práci „Historie času“, kde je pojednáváno o názorech na čas především v období středověku a částečně i předchozího období v podání Aurelia Augustina, Tomáše Akvinského, Platona a Aristotela. Aristoteles se ve svých dílech Fyzika a O nebi obsáhle věnuje také úvahám o pohybu a tíži či lehkosti těles, dnes bychom řekli o gravitaci. Následující práce jeho názory nejen představuje a porovnává především s Newtonovým řešením, ale hlavně se snaží je vyjadřovat současným způsobem pomocí matematických vztahů. V práci ukázáno, že se Aristoteles ve svých úvahách dostal poměrně blízko k formulaci některých fyzikálních zákonů v té podobě, v jaké o nich začali uvažovat až novodobí fyzikové, jak je tomu vidět například právě u Newtonových zákonů. V první části práce jsou předvedeny Aristotelovy myšlenky o pohybu, ve druhé jeho úvahy o gravitaci.

Abstract:

Dissertation Abstracts The following piece of work presenting Aristotle’s ideas of motion and gravitation is a supplement to my original dissertation “History of Time” dealing mainly with the ideas of time in the middle-age and partially in the previous era in the interpretation by Aurelius Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Plato and Aristotle. In his writings Physics and On the Heavens, Aristotle extensively deals with theories of motion and weight or lightness of bodies: we would say “gravitation” today. This work not only introduces his ideas but compares it with the Newtonian solution, and moreover it attempts to express them by means of mathematical relations in a contemporary way. As the work shows, Aristotle’s thought was not too far from formulating some physical laws in the form the modern scientists did, as can be seen e.g. in the Newtonian laws. The first part of the work deals with the Aristotle’s ideas of motion, the second with his ideas of gravitation.
