Forensic Entomology and its Use in Criminology

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci se zaměřuji na forenzní entomologii, která výrazně změnila moderní kriminalistiku. Uvádím zde celý cyklus a faktory posmrtného života, ve kterém právě forenzní entomologie zastupuje nedílnou součást při kriminalistickém vyšetřování. Popisuji historické i nynější případy, ve kterých forenzní entomologie prosazuje zákon a spravedlnost. Neopomenula jsem ani hmyz, který je srdcem tohoto všeho. Nastíním, jak probíhá zajišťování stop a jejich následná manipulace. V praktické části jsem uskutečnila pokus, kde jsem prostřednictvím šesti subjektů měla porovnat vliv ohně na vývoj již přítomného hmyzu, a určit, zda i po ohoření lze získat kvalitní entomologický materiál pro následné znalecké zkoumání. Jednalo se o pokus v terénu, ve kterém jsem pracovala se třemi kontrolními subjekty a třemi ohořelými subjekty. Součástí bylo také identifikovat zastoupení hmyzu u jednotlivých subjektů a jejich četnost. Důležitým faktorem bylo také zaznamenávat meteorologické údaje. Všechny zaznamenané údaje praktické části jsem poté porovnávala s jednotlivými subjekty a následně vyhodnotila.

Abstract:

In my bachelor's thesis I focus on forensic entomology, which has significantly changed modern criminology. I present here the entire cycle and factors of the afterlife, in which forensic entomology is an integral part of criminal investigations. I describe both historical and recent cases in which forensic entomology promotes law and justice. I didn't forget the insects that are at the heart of it all. I will outline how tracks are secured and their subsequent manipulation. In the practical part I observed an insect experiment, where with the help of six subjects I had to compare the effect of fire on the development of already present insects, and determine whether quality entomological material can be obtained even after the burn. It was a field experiment, where I worked with three control subjects and three burnt subjects. It was also part of identifying the representation of insects in individual subjects and their frequency. Recording meteorological data was also an important factor. Then I compared all the recorded data of the practical part with individual subjects and evaluated them.
