Veto players in the V4 countries

Abstract:

Cílem práce „Komparace veto hráčů v politických systémech zemí Visegrádské čtyřky“ je představit teorii veto hráčů a aplikovat ji na politické systémy České republiky, Maďarska, Polska a Slovenska. Součástí výzkumu je i srovnání předpokladů G. Tsebelise s praktickými výstupy politického procesu v těchto zemích. Práce se zaměřuje na výzkum politické stability a teorie je testována na přijímání významných zákonů v sociální oblasti.

Abstract:

The main goal of the thesis „Veto players in V4 countries” is to introduce veto players theory and apply it on political systems of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. The research also compares political outcomes in V4 countries with Tsebelis’s hypothesis. The thesis focuses on policy stability. It is divided into three parts. First part focuses on the veto players theory and identification of veto players in the political system. In the second part I identify institutional veto players in V4 countries and rules of the legislation process. Finally I test Tsebelis’s hypothesis on governments and significant social legislation.
