Self-esteem of adolescents in facilities of institutional care

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou sebehodnocení u adolescentů v zařízeních ústavní výchovy. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda existuje vztah mezi sebehodnocením a hodnocením neurotických potíží u adolescentů v zařízeních ústavní výchovy, vedlejším cílem je zjistit, jaké jsou konkrétní neurotické projevy, či potíže u těchto adolescentů. Dalším vedlejším cílem je zjistit, jaké jsou rozdíly v sebehodnocení a hodnocení neurotických potíží u adolescentů v zařízeních ústavní výchovy a adolescentů z rodinného prostředí. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, a to na teoretickou a praktickou část. Cílem teoretické části je definování, vymezení pojmů a propojení těchto poznatků s jednotlivými oblastmi, a to problematikou ústavní výchovy, oblasti sebehodnocení, neurotických potíží a vývojového období adolescence. V praktické části je popsáno výzkumné šetření, které bylo realizováno kvantitativní metodou dvou dotazníků, a to Rosenbergovou škálou sebehodnocení a Hodnocením neurotických potíží N5. Respondenty výzkumu byli adolescenti z ústavního prostředí ve věku 15-19 let. Součástí výzkumného vzorku byla také kontrolní skupina, která sloužila ke komparaci výsledků dat. Z výzkumného šetření vyplývá, že mezi sebehodnocením a hodnocením neurotických potíží u adolescentů v zařízeních ústavní výchovy existuje vztah, konkrétně, že se snižujícím se sebehodnocením stoupá přítomnost neurotických potíží. Zároveň z výzkumu vyplývá, že mezi nejčastější neurotické potíže u adolescentů v ústavní výchově patří únava a vyčerpanost, ospalost ve dne, smutná nebo špatná nálada, roztěkanost a nesoustředěnost. Rovněž respondenti z ústavního prostředí dosahují nižšího sebehodnocení a vyšších hodnot neurotických potíží oproti adolescentům z rodinného prostředí.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of self-esteem of adolescents in institutional care facilities. The aim of this work is to find out whether there is a relationship between self-esteem and neurotic problems in adolescents in institutional care, the secondary aim is to find out what are the specific neurotic symptoms or difficulties in these adolescents. Another secondary aim is to find out what are the differences in self-esteem and neurotic problems in adolescents in institutional care facilities and adolescents from family environment. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and the practical part. The aim of the theoretical part is to define concepts and find link between these findings with individual areas, specifically the issue of institutional care, self-esteem, neurotic problems and the period of adolescence. The practical part describes the research, which was carried out by the quantitative method of two questionnaires, namely the Rosenberg self-esteem scale and the evaluation of neurotic problems N5. Respondents of the research were adolescents from the institutional care aged 15-19, secondary part of the research sample was a control group, which was used to compare the results. The research shows that there is a relationship between self-esteem and evaluation of neurotic problems in adolescents in institutional care facilities, namely that the neurotic problems increases with decreasing self-esteem. At the same time, the research shows that the most common neurotic problems in adolescents in institutional care are fatigue, drowsiness, sad or bad mood, distraction and restlessness, also respondents from the institutional environment achieve lower self-esteem and higher values of neurotic problems compared to adolescents from family environment.
