Education of the patient after spine surgery

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je napsána na téma: Edukace pacientů po operaci páteře. První teoretická část je postavena na základních informacích o degenerativním onemocnění bederní páteře, anatomii páteře, patofyziologii, vyšetřovacích metodách, předoperační přípravě a pooperační péči. Druhá praktická část je zaměřena na cíle mého dotazníkového šetření, kterým jsem chtěla zjistit, jestli naši respondenti mají dostatek informací po operaci bederní páteře. Potvrdilo se, že respondenti nejsou dostatečně informováni a edukováni o režimových opatřeních, následné rehabilitaci a ošetřovatelské péči. Informací k danému režimu po operaci bederní páteře, jak správně postupovat je bohužel hodně a není možné si veškeré informace, rady a poučení zapamatovat. Respondenti projevili zájem o edukační materiál, který jim bude pomocníkem a průvodcem ve všech obdobích po operaci bederní páteře. Edukační materiál bude sloužit jako součást předoperační a pooperační péče pro pacienty Neurochirurgické kliniky Masarykovy nemocnice v Ústí nad Labem. Měl by se stát i velkým pomocníkem pro fyzioterapeutku a sestřičky.

Abstract:

The following work is focused on the education of patients after they have undergone spine surgery. The first theoretical part focuses on basic information concerning degenerative spine disease and its pathophysiology, spine anatomy, diagnostic tools, preoperative and postoperative care. The second practical part is made up of results of a questionnaire specially created to determine whether patients undergoing spine surgery have sufficient information on the régime following spine surgery. The results showed that patients are not sufficiently informed and educated on specific postoperative regimes, physiotherapy and general care. Patients receive a large amount of information and it is not possible for a patient to remember all of it. Furthermore, questionnaire results showed that respondents had great interest in detailed information, which would give them support in their postoperative period. The education materials generated via this paper will provide information to patients undergoing spine surgery at the Neurosurgical Department of Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem. It serve as an aid to patients, physiotherapists and nurses.
