Negative patterns of masculine practice in a video game GTA: San Andreas

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zjistit, jakým způsobem jsou ve hře užívány negativně asociované vzorce jednání v závislosti na dosahování herních cílů. Jakým způsobem tyto negativně asociované vzorce jednání souvisejí s reprodukcí mužského násilného jednání ve virutálním světě počítačových her a jakým způsobem souvisejí s maskulinitou. V teoretické části práce vysvětluji základní teorie formování mužské sociální identity a socializační roli mediálních produktů. Pracuji s teoriemi sociálního učení, teoriemi morálního vývoje a s teoriemi vlivu počítačových her na agresivní jednání aktérů. V praktické části provádím za pomoci kvantitativní obsahové analýzy výzkum herního prostředí počítačové hry. Zaměřuji se na analýzu činů konaných v závislosti na dosahování herních cílů a na jejich spojení s negativně asociovanými vzorci jednání. Na závěr shrnu výsledky analýzy a interpretuji data za pomoci teoretických výchozích konceptů.

Abstract:

The goal of thesis is to find out how are negatively associated practice patterns use in video games depending on the gaming achievements. How these negatively associated practice patterns connect with reproduction of male violent practice in virtual world of video games and how there connect with masculinity. In the theoretical part of thesis I explain basic theories of male social identity and I also explain social role of media products. I work with theories of social learning, theories of moral development and also I work with theories of influence of video games on agressive practice of actors. In the practical part of thesis I conduct research of gaming environment based on quantitative content analysis. I focus on the analysis of acts, which are held for the purpose of achieving of game´s goals and I focus on their connecting with negatively asociated practice patterns. In the end I summarize the results of the analysis and with help of theoretical concepts I interpret data.
