Work and Leisure: leisure activities and their changes depending on media

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku pracovní vytíženosti a nedostatek volného času. Zároveň se práce zabývá masovými médii, které čím dál více působí na naši společnost a ovlivňují způsob trávení volného času. Cílem práce je získat základní představu o tom, jak česká společnost vnímá současnou pracovní situaci v podobě zvýšené pracovní zátěže a pracovní doby. Dalším cílem je zjistit, jak Češi vnímají důležitost volného času a jakými aktivitami ho nejčastěji tráví. Poslední cíl je zaměřen na sledovanost médií a na frekvenci používání internetu českou populací ve volném čase. Pro analýzu zvolených témat byla použita data z mezinárodních výzkumů European Social Survey (ESS) a International Social Survey Programme (ISSP). Z výsledků je patrné, že v České republice se nejčastěji využívá pravidelná pracovní doba. Volný čas hraje v životě jedinců důležitou roli, zároveň ho však více jak polovina Čechů tráví na internetu (1 až 2 hodiny denně).

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the workload and the lack of leisure time. At the same time, the thesis deals with mass media, which are increasingly affecting our society and the way how Czechs spend their leisure time. The goal of the thesis is to get a basic idea of how the Czech society perceives the current working situation as for increased workload and working time. Other goal is to find out how Czechs perceive the importance of leisure time and which activities they usually spend free time with. The last goal is focused on the media coverage and on the frequency of Internet use by the Czech population in leisure time. The data from the European Social Survey (ESS) and the International Social Survey Program (ISSP) were used to analyze these particular issues. The results show that in the Czech Republic regular working hours are most frequently used. Leisure time plays an important role in the individual’s life, while more than half of Czechs spend it on the Internet (1 or 2 hours per day).
