Coping with Load by Teachers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce přináší poznatky o problematice zvládání zátěže u vyučujících na ostravských základních školách. Zabývá se vymezením pojmů jako jsou stres, zátěž, pracovní zátěž, zvládání zátěže. Okrajově popisuje i možné reakce na stres a důsledky stresu. Je zde vymezen pojem syndrom vyhoření jako možný důsledek nezvládnutého stresu ? zátěže, kterým jsou postiženi především lidé v pomáhajících profesích, kde mohou být zařazeni právě i učitelé. Cílem práce bylo zjištění, zda učitelé ve své profesi pociťují zátěž a jaké strategie k jejímu zvládání volí. Metodami byly zkoumány vztahy mezi copingovými strategiemi a věkem, délkou praxe, sebedůvěrou, optimismem. Byl zjištěn signifikantní pozitivní vztah mezi sebedůvěrou a aktivním copingem. Více jak polovina dotázaných respondentů má nadprůměrnou hodnotu u sebedůvěry.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis brings new findings about the problematics of managing the working load by teachers at the primary schools in Ostrava. It deals with delimitation of terms like stress, working load and managing the working load. It also marginally describes possible reactions to stress and consequences of stress. The term burnout is limited here as a possible consequence of unhandled stress ? workload, which most of the people in helping professions, where teachers can also be included, are affected with. The goal of the thesis was to estimate whether the teachers fell the same in their profession and which strategies do they choose to manage the situation. Relationships between coping strategies and age, length of work experience, self-confidence, optimism were researched by methods. Significant positive relationship between self-confidence and active coping has been discovered. More than a half of polled respondents have an above-average rate of self-confidence.
