Slovakia's membership in the eurozone and the theory of monetary integration

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na zhodnocení členství Slovenska v eurozóně s důrazem na tradiční kritéria a teorii měnové integrace. Analyzuje teoretické aspekty měnové integrace, včetně teorie optimální měnové oblasti, a formální podmínky pro přijetí eura. Dále zkoumá historii evropské měnové integrace, hodnotí plnění konvergenčních kritérií Slovenska a aplikuje teorie měnové integrace na jeho případ. Komparativní analýza s Českou republikou zkoumá jejich odlišný přístup k měnové integraci a dopady na ekonomické indikátory. Práce dále zkoumá dopady členství v eurozóně na Slovensko, identifikuje rizika a navrhuje opatření. Závěrečné shrnutí sumarizuje klíčové poznatky.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the evaluation of Slovakia's membership in the eurozone with an emphasis on traditional criteria and the theory of monetary integration. It analyzes the theoretical aspects of monetary integration, including the theory of the optimal currency area, and the formal conditions for the adoption of the euro. It also examines the history of European monetary integration, evaluates the fulfillment of Slovakia's convergence criteria and applies the theory of monetary integration to its case. A comparative analysis with the Czech Republic examines their different approach to monetary integration and the impact on economic indicators. The thesis further examines the effects of eurozone membership on Slovakia, identifies risks and proposes measures. A final summary summarizes the key findings.
