Homologous recombination is an important mechanism of the repair of damaged DNA. It is indispensable for genome integrity, but it must be tightly regulated to avoid deleterious events. The breast cancer susceptibility protein BRCA2 is essential for recombinational DNA repair. Homologická rekombinácia predstavuje významný mechanizmus opravy DNA. Hrá kľúčovú úlohu pri udržovaní integrity genómu a preto musí byť veľmi prísne regulovaná. BRCA2, proteín spájaný s predispozíciou k rakovine pŕs, je nevyhnutný pre priebeh rekombinačnej opravy DNA. BRCA2 viaže malý kyslý proteín s vysoko konzervatívnou štruktúrou, DSS1.
