Šíření nákazy na finančních trzích

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se pokouší odpovědět na otázku, do jaké míry se šíří finanční nákaza z akciových trhů jižních členů Evropské Unie na akciové trhy dvou rozdílných regionů Střední Evropy a Baltských států – zemí, které se staly členy Evropské Unie v roce 2004. Naše hlavní výzkumná otázka byla, zda dochází ke zvýšenému výskytu společného pohybu akciových indexů mezi zeměmi, které jsou členy stejné měnové unie. Porovnání výskytů společného pohyby mezi akciovými trhy v rámci našeho vzorku ukázalo, že jednotná měna nemá vliv na množství případů šíření finanční nákazy mezi těmito zeměmi. Výsledky naší analýzy dokazují, že akciové indexy zemí Střední Evropy zaznamenaly větší množství pozitivních i negativních extrémních šoků přenášených z akciových indexů zemí Jižní Evropy, než tomu bylo u Pobaltských států, byť tyto státy jsou v ERM systému již od roku 2005.

Abstract:

This thesis investigated cases of how and if financial contagion spread from stock markets of the Southern Europe, to the two regions of the 2004 enlargement of European Union; the Baltics states and the Central European (CEE) countries (and their stock markets). We defined two research questions that we wanted to answer. First, if having a single currency increases cross-country co-movements between two countries (stock markets) that are using the same currency. Comparing the volume of co-exceedances between both regions, we can say that the single currency does not have effect on the volume of contagion moments. We can clearly see that the region of Central Europe experienced higher volume of both positive and negative extreme returns transmitted from the Southern Europe, than was the case of Baltic region, whose countries has been in the ERM mechanism since 2005.
