Protest Movements against the Vietnam War

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyze if and to what extent the protest movements against the Vietnam War caused polarization of the society and if they were successful and what results were reached by American activists and antiwar organizations. In this thesis historical research has been done in order to analyze the data from the period of the time after and during the Vietnam War. At the same time, the synchronic approach has been used for data collection and presentation. In this work, data are outlined chronologically involving and describing events, organizations and advocates of protest movements in the United States, furthermore, it describes what their outcomes were. Such data can reveal why these protest movements were so important for American society and shed some light on certain stigma associated with the Vietnam War.

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je analyzovat, zda a v jakém rozsahu polarizovala hnutí proti válce ve Vietnamu Americkou společnost, zda bylo hnutí úspěšné a jakých výsledků dosáhli Američtí aktivisté a protiválečné organizace. Tato diplomová práce je postavena na informacích týkajících se poválečného období a období války ve Vietnamu, také práce podléhá synchronní metodě pro výběr a práci s daty. Informace jsou v této práci seřazeny chronologicky, zahrnují a popisují události, organizace a lidi zapojené do amerického protestního hnutí proti válce ve Vietnamu, nejsou opominuty ani jejich zásluhy. Tyto informace mohou pomoci objasnit důležitost tohoto protestního hnutí pro americkou společnost a objasnit určitá stigmata spojená s válkou ve Vietnamu.
