The specifics of the female identity formation in the period of emerging adulthood

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá tématem utváření identity žen dvojčat v období vynořující se dospělosti. Cílem kvalitativní studie je zjistit, jakou roli hraje skutečnost „být dvojče a mít dvojče“ ve formování identity, jak tyto ženy definují povahu svého dvojčecího pouta, jak vnímají separaci, jakožto důležitý moment v utváření své identity a upevňování vlastní autonomie. Cílovou skupinou jsou ženy (dvojčata) ve věku 18-28 let, metodou sběru dat je polostrukturovaný rozhovor, výzkumnou metodou je interpretativní fenomenologická analýza. Vnímání pout mezi dvojčaty je nahlíženo různými způsoby. Některými dvojčaty je toto pouto je vnímáno jako specifické, jinými jako „normální“ sourozenecký vztah. Samotná dvojčata vidí sebe jako zcela odlišné osobnosti, separaci od dvojčete hodnotí jako možnost nalézt vlastní identitu a autonomii.

Abstract:

The paper is concerned with the issue of a female twin identity formation in the period of emerging adulthood. The aim of the qualitative study is to explore what effect has the matter of the fact of “being a twin and have a twin” on the identity formation. The other concern is to investigate how these twins define their twinning bond, how they perceive separation as an important issue for their identity and autonomy formation. Target group is made by female twins of age 18-28 years, data are collected by semi structural interview, research method is interpretative phonological analysis. Twinning bond is perceived in many ways. Some of the twins feel it like a very special bond, another like just a normal sibling relationship. The twins themselves perceive themselves like two different people, individuals. The separation is seen like a positive step in their development because it gives them the opportunity to find their own identity and autonomy.
