Practical application of the Internet of Things

Abstract:

Diplomová práce si ve své teoretické části klade za cíl analyzovat současný stav a technologické možnosti internetu věcí v moderní společnosti. Definuje internet věcí, nastavuje obecný rámec, cíle pro lidstvo a technologické možnosti. Popisuje možnosti a trendy v různých oblastech aplikace, které tento poměrně nový fenomén v oblasti komunikačních a informačních technologií poskytuje. Dotýká se též možných rizik, bezpečnostní a ekonomické stránky. V praktické části diplomová práce řeší problém indikace otevřených oken a notifikace uživatele o změně stavu jak v místě, tak i kdekoliv na světě s využitím sítě internet. Cílem je návrh, rozpracování, naprogramování a praktická realizace řešení, které vede k vyřešení problému s využitím internetu věcí. Metodou je přírůstkový vývoj na základě návrhu, zakončený testováním a praktickým nasazením hotového zařízení. Nové poznatky a zjištění jsou průběžně zaznamenány tak, aby mohly být znovu využity při rozvoji předmětného projektu nebo v jiných projektech. Diplomová práce je napsána stylem k seznámení čtenáře s fenoménem internetu věcí, jeho technologickými možnostmi a na praktické ukázce seznámit s nástroji k realizaci funkčního zařízení. Replikací postupů projektového řízení použitých při designu, vývoji a praktickém řešení lze dosáhnout úspěšného nasazení jednoduchých až středně složitých řešení. Využití nově získaných zkušeností popsaných jako ponaučení v závěru práce pomůže vyhnout se chybám při realizaci projektů internetu věcí.

Abstract:

In its theoretical part, the diploma thesis aims to analyze the current state and technological possibilities of the Internet of Things in modern society. It defines the Internet of Things, sets the general framework, goals for civilization and technological possibilities. It describes the possibilities and trends in various areas of application that this relatively new phenomenon in the sphere of communication and information technologies provides. It also addresses potential risks, security, and economics issues. In the practical part of the diploma thesis solves the problem of indication of open windows and notification of the user about the change of status both in the place and anywhere in the world using the Internet. The aim is to design, develop, program and practical implementation of solutions that lead to solving the problem of using the Internet of Things. The method is incremental development based on design, ending with testing and practical deployment of the finished device. New pieces of knowledge and findings are continuously recorded so that they can be re-used in the development of the project or other projects. The diploma thesis is written in style to familiarize the reader with the phenomenon of the Internet of Things, its technological possibilities and to educate used tools for the implementation of a functional device on a practical demonstration. By replicating the project management procedures used in the design, development and practical solution, successful implementation of simple to medium-complex solutions can be achieved. The use of newly acquired experience described as lessons learned at the end of the work will help avoid mistakes in the introduction of Internet of Things projects.
