The circular economy in the textile industry – barriers and opportunities

Abstract:

Současná ekonomika v textilním průmyslu je založena převážně na lineárních principech, které však z dlouhodobého hlediska způsobují řadu problémů. Mezi nejvýznamnější se řadí celkové dopady textilního průmyslu na životní prostředí, výroba a spotřeba produktů textilního průmyslu. Cílem diplomové práce je tak zjistit bariéry a příležitosti cirkulární ekonomiky v textilní průmyslu, a to jak na straně spotřebitelů, tak na straně výrobců. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část popisuje souhrnné informace z oblasti cirkulární ekonomiky v textilním průmyslu. V rámci praktické části byl proveden kvalitativní výzkum v podobě případových studií, který byl zaměřen na bariéry a příležitosti na straně výrobců. Pro zjištění bariér na straně spotřebitelů byl proveden kvantitativní výzkum v podobě dotazníkového šetření. Na závěr práce jsou uvedeny návrhy řešení, jak lze tyto bariéry překonat.

Abstract:

The current economics in the textile industry is based largely on linear principles, which, however, cause a number of problems in the long term. Among the most important are the overall environmental impact of the textile industry, and the production and consumption of textile products. The aim of the thesis is thus to identify the barriers and opportunities of circular economy in the textile industry, both on the consumer and producer side. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part summarizes information on the circular economy in the textile industry. In the practical part, qualitative research in the form of case studies was conducted to identify barriers and opportunities on the producers' side. Quantitative research in the form of a questionnaire survey was conducted to identify barriers on the consumers' side. At the end of the thesis, suggestions for solutions are given on how these barriers can be overcome.
