Expectations of Prague University of Economics and Business graduates from the employer when entering the labour market

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je zjištění očekávání absolventek Fakulty podnikohospodářské Vysoké školy ekonomické v Praze od zaměstnavatele při vstupu na trh práce. Tato práce zkoumá také očekávání zástupců firem, zde označených jako personalisti, od čerstvých absolventek při jejich vstupu na pracovní trh. Tato práce je zaměřena na odlišnosti a shody mezi pohledy a názory absolventek a personalistů vztahující se ke vstupu čerstvých absolventek na pracovní trh. Praktická část je provedena formou polostrukturovaných hloubkových rozhovorů. Deset rozhovorů je provedeno s čerstvými absolventkami a jedenáct rozhovorů s personalisty z různých společností. Data jsou analyzována pomocí metody otevřeného kódování a následně zpracovávána pomocí tematické analýzy. Hlavními zjištěním jsou očekávání čerstvých absolventek, pro které je důležité zejména finanční ohodnocení, přátelskost, lidskost a možností týkající se kariéry, flexibility, náplně práce, osobního dopadu i výzev. Podle zjištění jsou pracovní očekávání podřízena vidině rodiny. Zaměstnavatelé od čerstvých absolventek mají stejná očekávání jako od dalších uchazečů o zaměstnání. Očekávají zejména kulturní fit, chuť se učit, realistická finanční očekávání, měkké dovednosti jako samostatnost, týmovost a time management, znalost anglického jazyka a MS Excelu. Očekávání obou stran se nejvíce liší ve finančním ohodnocení a požadované flexibilitě.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to find out motives of recent female graduates of Faculty of Business Administration at the Prague University of Economics and Business when entering the labour market. This work also examines the expectations of company representatives, here referred to as HR professionals, from recent graduates as they enter the labour market. This work is focused on the differences and similarities between the views and opinions of female graduates and HR professionals related to the entry of recent female graduates into the labour market. The practical part is done in the form of semi-structured in-depth interviews. Ten interviews are conducted with recent graduates and eleven interviews with HR professionals from various companies. The data are analysed using the open coding method and subsequently processed using thematic analysis. The main findings are the expectations of recent graduates, for whom financial rewards, friendliness, humanity, and opportunities of career, flexibility, job description, personal impact and challenges are particularly important. According to the findings, work expectations are subject to the family's vision. Employers have the same expectations from recent graduates as from other job seekers. They expect especially cultural fit, desire to learn, realistic financial expectations, soft skills such as independence, teamwork and time management, knowledge of English and MS Excel. The expectations of both parties differ the most in financial valuation and required flexibility.
