Educational Approaches of Parents and Grandparents to a Child of younger school age in a Multigenerational Family

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o výchovných přístupech rodičů a prarodičů ve výchově dítěte mladšího školního věku ve vícegenerační rodině. Práce je členěna na dvě části, a to na teoretickou a empirickou část. Na začátku teoretické části se věnuji objasnění pojmu rodina a vícegenerační rodina. Mimo jiné se zde zabývám funkcemi rodiny, podobou současné rodiny a také tím, jaké výhody a nevýhody vícegenerační soužití obnáší. V další kapitole se zaobírám pojmem výchova a rodinná výchova. V této části je značná pozornost věnovaná stylům výchovy. Poslední kapitola teoretické části pojednává o výchově dítěte mladšího školního věku ve vícegeneračním soužití a dále se také zabývá rolemi rodičů a prarodičů, jež zastávají při výchově dítěte. Empirická část se člení na přípravu a na samotný výzkum. Pomocí kvalitativní výzkumné strategie a polostrukturovaných rozhovorů zjišťuji výchovné přístupy rodičů a prarodičů ve vícegenerační rodině. Cílem výzkumu je zjistit, jaké přístupy k výchově volí rodiče a jaké prarodiče a zda existují v jejich výchovných přístupech nějaké rozdíly. Dále si výzkum klade za cíl zjistit, jakým způsobem se podílí na výchově dítěte prarodiče a kdo z aktérů vícegeneračního soužití má hlavní slovo ve výchově dítěte mladšího školního věku.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses educational approaches of parents and grandparents to a child of younger school age in a multigenerational family. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. The first section of the theoretical part is dedicated to defining the terms family and multigenerational family. Furthermore, it delves into the functions of a family, the forms of contemporary family, and the advantages and disadvantages stemming from multigenerational cohabitation. The following chapter concentrates on education and family education, with the emphasis on parenting and educational styles. The final chapter of the theoretical part focuses on the education of a child of younger school age in a multigenerational family and the roles of parents and grandparents in the child’s education. The empirical part is divided into the preliminary work and the research itself. Quantitative research strategy and the method of standardized interviews were utilized to identify the educational approaches of parents and grandparents in a multigenerational family. The aim of the research is to ascertain which educational approaches are favoured by parents and which by grandparents, and to discover the potential differences in their educational approaches. Furthermore, the research aims to ascertain the role of grandparents in a child’s education, and to establish which of the agents in the multigenerational cohabitation prevails in the education of a child of younger school age.
