Voluntourismus a jeho vliv na životy dětí vyrůstajících v sirotčincích na území Kambodži

Abstract:

Absolventská práce se zaměřuje na vliv voluntourismu na životy dětí, které vyrůstají v sirotčincích na území Kambodži. Tato problematika se v poslední době stala velmi diskutovanou v mezinárodní odborné literatuře, ale v České republice na ni zatím nebyla zaměřena přílišná pozornost. S pomocí výzkumů mnoha anglicky mluvících autorů, tato práce propojila fenomén voluntourismus s jeho možnými negativními, ale i pozitivními dopady na jednu zemi a její obyvatele, konkrétně Kambodžu a její rodiny s dětmi. Nejprve je popsán voluntourismus a všechny jeho aspekty za účelem přehledu v této problematice. Sirotčince v Kambodži jsou další důležitou kapitolou, která identifikuje kontext jejich zřizování, popisuje profil sirotka a způsob práce zaměstnanců a voluntouristů s dětmi. Nakonec se tato práce zaměřuje na samotný vliv voluntourismu (a Orphanage turismu) na kambodžskou společnost, vývoj dětí a také na jejich následující životy.

Abstract:

The graduate thesis focuses on the effects of Voluntourism on lives of children who are growing up in orphanages in Cambodia. This topic became very much discussed in the international scholarly literature, but has not yet been discussed much in the academic field in the Czech Republic. So through the research papers of many English speaking authors, this paper has been put together to connect the phenomenon of Voluntourism with its possible negative but also positive effects it can have on one country and its people, specifically Cambodia and its families and their children. Firstly, Voluntourism and all its aspects are defined to get a general overview of the phenomenon. Orphanages in Cambodia are another important chapter of this paper with identification of context of their establishment, definition of the word “orphan” from Cambodian perspective and the work that workers and volunteers do with the children in orphanages. At last, the paper takes a look at the actual effect that Voluntourism (and Orphanage Tourism) has on Cambodian society, the development of the children and then, how it can affect the children’s lives.
