Implementation of the Czech Republic's anti-drug policy in prison conditions

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na jeden z důležitých aspektů výkonu trestu odnětí svobody, kterým je realizace protidrogové politiky ve věznicích. Má část teoretickou a část praktickou. V teoretické části je uvedena kategorizace návykových látek užívaných odsouzenými, vysvětlen vězeňský systém v našich podmínkách i protidrogová politika České republiky, včetně jejího odrazu v prostředí věznic. V praktické části práce je provedena analýza dvou druhů dat, které mají vztah k tématu práce. Kvantitativní data pocházejí z dříve provedených výzkumů v předmětné oblasti i ze statistik prezentovaných ve výročních zprávách v oblasti drog v České republice. Zdrojem kvalitativních dat byly polostrukturované rozhovory se dvěma participanty z řad zaměstnanců Vězeňské služby České republiky. Analýza těchto dat slouží k identifikaci stavu užívání návykových látek v tuzemských věznicích v kontextu protidrogové politiky.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on one of the important aspects of imprisonment, which is the implementation of drug policy in prisons. It has a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part presents the categorization of addictive substances used by convicts, explains the prison system in our conditions and the drug policy of the Czech Republic, including its reflection in the prison environment. In the practical part of the thesis, two types of data related to the topic of the thesis are analysed. The quantitative data come from previously conducted research in the subject area as well as from statistics presented in annual reports in the field of drugs in the Czech Republic. The source of qualitative data was semi-structured interviews with two participants from the Czech Prison Service. The analysis of these data serves to identify the state of substance use in domestic prisons in the context of drug policy.
