Communication barriers by the patient during hospitalization

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá komunikačními bariérami ze strany pacienta při hospitalizaci. Komunikační bariéry jsou překážky nebo obtíže v komunikaci, které mohou znemožnit efektivní přenos informací mezi lidmi nebo skupinami. Tyto bariéry mohou vznikat z různých faktorů a mohou se projevovat různými způsoby, což může ztížit porozumění a vzájemné dorozumívání. Mezi komunikační bariéry mohou patřit například jazykové rozdíly, nedostatečné komunikační dovednosti, kulturní rozdíly, emocionální faktory, technologické překážky nebo fyzické omezení jako je například ztráta sluchu nebo zraku. Tyto bariéry mohou vést k nedorozuměním, zvýšené úrovni stresu a frustrace a mohou mít negativní dopad na kvalitu komunikace a vzájemného porozumění. Je důležité identifikovat tyto bariéry a hledat způsoby, jak je překonat nebo minimalizovat, aby byla komunikace co nejefektivnější a aby bylo dosaženo maximálního porozumění a spokojenosti v komunikačním procesu. Cíl práce: Cílem práce je identifikovat a analyzovat hlavní komunikační bariéry, které pacienti zažívají během pobytu v nemocnici, a zkoumat jejich vliv na efektivitu komunikace mezi pacienty a zdravotním personálem. Metodika: Práce kombinuje teoretický přehled problematiky komunikace ve zdravotnictví s vlastním průzkumem provedeným formou pozorování a rozhovorů s pacienty. Výsledky: Výsledky analýzy naznačují, že mezi hlavní komunikační bariéry patří nedostatek soukromí, nedostatečné komunikační dovednosti pacientů, technologické překážky a emoční faktory. Diskuze: Diskuze se zaměřuje na možné strategie řešení těchto bariér a doporučení pro zlepšení komunikace v interní ambulanci a oddělení nemocnice. Závěr: V rámci této bakalářské práce byly identifikovány a analyzovány komunikační bariéry ze strany pacientů při jejich hospitalizaci v interní ambulanci a oddělení nemocnice v Chomutově. Výsledky průzkumu naznačují, že mezi hlavní komunikační bariéry patří nedostatek soukromí, nedostatečné komunikační dovednosti pacientů, technologické překážky a emoční faktory. Diskuse se zaměřuje na možné strategie řešení těchto bariér, včetně zlepšení komunikačních dovedností personálu, většího respektování soukromí pacientů a využití moderních technologií k podpoře komunikace. Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with communication barriers from the patient's perspective during hospitalization. Communication barriers are obstacles or difficulties in communication that can hinder effective information transfer between individuals or groups. These barriers can arise from various factors and can manifest in different ways, making understanding and mutual communication more challenging. Communication barriers may include language differences, inadequate communication skills, cultural differences, emotional factors, technological obstacles, or physical limitations such as hearing or vision loss. These barriers can lead to misunderstandings, increased levels of stress and frustration, and may have a negative impact on the quality of communication and mutual understanding. It is important to identify these barriers and seek ways to overcome or minimize them to make communication as effective as possible and achieve maximum understanding and satisfaction in the communication process. Objective: The aim of the thesis is to identify and analyze the main communication barriers that patients experience during their hospital stay and examine their impact on the effectiveness of communication between patients and healthcare personnel. Methodology: The thesis combines a theoretical overview of communication issues in healthcare with its own survey conducted through observation and interviews with patients. Results: The results of the analysis indicate that the main communication barriers include a lack of privacy, inadequate communication skills of patients, technological obstacles, and emotional factors. Discussion: The discussion focuses on possible strategies to address these barriers and recommendations for improving communication in the internal outpatient clinic and hospital department. Conclusion: Within the scope of this bachelor thesis, communication barriers from the patient's perspective during hospitalization in the internal outpatient clinic and hospital department in Chomutov were identified and analyzed. The survey results suggest that the main communication barriers include a lack of privacy, inadequate communication skills of patients, technological obstacles, and emotional factors. The discussion focuses on possible strategies to address these barriers, including improving communication skills of personnel, respecting patients' privacy more, and utilizing modern technologies to support communication.
