Tato práce se zabývá hodnotou křesťanského člověka v období středověku až raného novověku, osvícenství. Ozřejmí teologické i dobové společenské vnímání lidského těla i duše v hříchu a trestu, ve smrti, v teorii i praxi. Vyvodí jejich důsledky, které se stanou pohnutkou pro změnu.
