The relationship of the will to the thinking of René Descartes

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem vztahu vůle a myšlení u René Descarta. Středem zájmu je pojetí myšlení a role svobodné vůle při poznávání pravdy v Descartově díle, přičemž je důležité osvětlit, co Descartes míní pojmem mysli. V úvodu se hovoří o pochybování, které představuje východisko Descartovy filosofie. Metoda pochybování přivádí k pojmu jistoty. Jistotu Descartes nalezl ve zřejmosti poznatku, že myslí, a z tohoto poznatku odvodil, že existuje. Dále je představeno Descartovo určení člověka jakožto věci myslící, a také myslící substance. V další části je pozornost zaměřena na souzení. Podmínky, za kterých je možné řádné souzení, jsou správná chápavost a souhlas vůle. Pojednání o pojmu vůle je hlavním motivem práce. Svobodná vůle jakožto nejvyšší dokonalost člověka uděluje souhlas při rozhodování a dosahování pravdivého úsudku a pravdy. Pokud není souzeno správně a souhlas vůle je udělen nepravdivému úsudku, dochází k omylu či chybě. Závěr práce se věnuje pravdivosti a ukazatelům, na jejichž základě je soud shledán pravdivým.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the theme of will and thought in Descartes' work. The focus is on the concept of thinking and the role of free will in knowing the truth, and it is important to shed light on what Descartes means by mind. The introduction talks about the doubts that represent the starting point for Descartes' philosophy. The method of doubt brings to the concept of certainty. Descartes finds certainty in the evidence that he thinks, and from this knowledge he deduces that he exists. Furthermore, Descartes' notion of man as a thinking thing and also a thinking substance is introduced. In the next part, the focus is on judging. The conditions under which true judgment can be achieved are the correct understanding and consent of the will. A treatise on the notion of will is the main motive for work. Free will, as the highest perfection of man, gives consent in making decisions and attaining true judgment and truth. If it is not judged properly and consent is given to the wrong judgment, there is a mistake or error. The conclusion of the thesis is devoted to truthfulness and indicators based on which the judgment is found to be true.
