Emotional experience of elementary school pupils

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o emočním prožívání žáků na 1.stupni základní školy a převážně pak o emoci strachu. Cílem práce je popsat danou problematiku a zjistit, z čeho mají děti strach a jakým způsobem se jejich strach projevuje. Práce je členěna na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část popisuje období mladšího školního věku, základní emoce, strach, projevy strachu u dětí a výzkumy, které již proběhly. Empirická část za využití kvantitativních a kvalitativních metod zkoumá prožívání strachu dětí. Zjišťování probíhalo na konkrétním vzorku, a to u žáků 4.ročníku na 1. stupni základní školy. Data byla získávána prostřednictvím metody focus group, volných výpovědí, tzv. „koláčů strachu“ a dotazníku FSSC-II. Metody se vzájemně podporují a doplňují.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the emotional experience of elementary school and mainly with the emotion of fear. The aim of the thesis is to describe the issue and to find out what children are afraid of and how their fear manifests itself. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part describes the period of younger school age, basic emotions, fear, manifestations of fear in children and research that has already been conducted. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, the empirical part explores children's experience of fear. The research was conducted on a specific sample, namely 4th grade students in primary school. Data were collected through the method of focus group, open-ended statements, so-called "fear cakes" and the FSSC-II questionnaire. The methods are mutually supportive and complementary.
