Comparison of Pupils' Views Attending Standard and Alternative (Waldorfians') Schools on Actual and Preferred Classroom Climates

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je popsat a analyzovat názory žáků na aktuální i preferované klima ve třídě a zjistit rozdíly v těchto názorech mezi 1) žáky druhého stupně základních standardních a waldorfských škol, 2) děvčaty a chlapci a 3) žáky jednotlivých ročníků. Klima třídy bylo měřeno českou verzí dotazníku CES (Classroom environment scale) s názvem Dotazník sociálního klimatu školní třídy v překladu J. Mareše, J. Laška a H. Skalské (1998). V našem výzkumu byla zpracována data získaná od 335 žáků ze šesti škol (tří standardních a tří waldorfských). Na základě popisných statistik a vícefaktorové analýzy rozptylu jsme dospěli k následujícím závěrům. 1) Žáci standardních a waldorfských škol vnímají některé složky třídního klimatu stejně: klid a pořádek ve třídě, vztahy mezi žáky ve třídě a orientaci žáků na úkoly, jiné odlišně: učitelovu pomoc žákům, zájem žáků o průběh výuky a jasnost pravidel. Názory žáků standardních a waldorfských škol na většinu složek preferovaného klimatu ve třídě se shodují. 2) Názory děvčat a chlapců na aktuální ani na většinu složek preferovaného klimatu se neliší. 3) Žáci jednotlivých ročníků druhého stupně základních škol mají na některé složky aktuálního klimatu shodný názor konkrétně na zájem žáků o průběh výuky, jasnost pravidel, klid a pořádek ve třídě. Na jiné složky klimatu mají žáci jednotlivých ročníků základních škol odlišný názor konkrétně na učitelovu pomoc žákům, orientaci žáků na úkoly a vztahy mezi žáky ve třídě. Žáci jednotlivých ročníků druhého stupně základních škol se shodují v preferencích týkajících se dvou složek klimatu a to: jasnosti pravidel a zájmu žáků o průběh výuky, ve zbývajících složkách preferovaného klimatu se názory žáků jednotlivých ročníků liší.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to describe and analyse opinions of pupils on actual and preferred classroom climates and taking in account these opinions to find out the differences in these views within pupils of the middle schools: 1) attending of standard and Waldorfs´ schools; 2) views influenced by gender differences and 3) the views affected by the various years of pupils´ studies. The classroom climates were measured by the Czech version of the CES questionnaire (Classroom environment scale) translated by J. Mareš, J. Lašek and H. Skalská (1998). Data from 335 scholars from six different schools (three standard and three Waldorfians´) were processed. Using descriptive statistics and multi-factorial variant analysis the following conclusions could be made: 1) Pupils of standard and Waldorfians´ schools perceive some aspects of the climates in the same way: teacher´s support to pupils, clarity of rules, pupils´ interest in education, while their views differ in others: relations between pupils, calm and order in the classroom, pupils´ orientation on tasks. Pupils of standard and Waldorfians´ schools have the same wishes regarding the most of the aspects of the preferred classroom climates. 2) Gender differences do not play any substantial role in actual climate and the views of girls and boys to most of the aspects of preferred climate in the classroom are not statistically significant. 3) Pupils in various years of their secondary school studies have the same opinions on some aspects of the actual climates specifically on pupils´ interest in education, clarity of rules, calm and order in the classroom while they have different opinions on other aspects of the actual classroom climates: teacher´s support to pupils, pupils´ orientation on tasks, relations between pupils in the classroom. Pupils in various years of their middle school studies have the same opinions on two preferred climate aspects: clarity of rules and pupils´ interest in education while their views differ in the rest of preferred classroom climate aspects.
